Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Invites Proposals for New Jersey Health Initiatives Program
Deadline: October 28, 2004 (Brief proposals)
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (<a href="http://rwjf.org/">http://rwjf.org/</a>) in Princeton, New Jersey, the largest philanthropy in the nation devoted exclusively to health and healthcare, concentrates its grantmaking in four areas: to assure that all Americans have access to quality healthcare at reasonable cost; to improve the quality of care and support for people with chronic health conditions; to promote healthy communities and lifestyles; and to reduce the personal, social, and economic harm caused by substance abuse.
In recognition of its special responsibilities to its community and state, the foundation offers the New Jersey Health Initiatives, a statewide program designed to support innovative community-based projects that address one or more of the foundation’s goals.
Applicant organizations must be either public entities or nonprofit organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Applicants and their projects must be located in the state of New Jersey. The types of organizations or groups that will be considered for funding include healthcare providers such as community-based organizations, hospitals, and long-term care providers; physician and other provider organizations; statewide or regional associations related to providers; organizations that target an underserved group; and planning and advocacy organizations.
Up to eight awards of no more than $300,000 each will be awarded in 2005. The duration of each project will range from two to three years.
This program only accepts proposals submitted online. Complete program guidelines and proposal instructions are available at the RWJF Web site.
