MacArthur Foundation Announces New Housing Research Grant Program
Deadline: April 17, 2009 (Brief Summary)
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation is accepting proposals for a new competitive research program to determine whether the policy case for affordable housing can be strengthened by rigorous empirical research that determines whether and how housing affects the well-being of families, children, communities, and their local economies.
The foundation will consider supporting research studies of one-, two-, or three-year duration, and at a total cost to the foundation over the project term of no more than $1 million. More costly projects are also eligible for consideration if resources are available from other funders, who should be identified in the proposal.
To be eligible, applicants must be affiliated with a nonprofit entity and must comply with the foundation’s indirect-cost policies, which generally limit such costs to no more than 15 percent of total direct costs.
The foundation anticipates requesting proposals under this program again in 2010 and 2011. Visit the MacArthur Foundation Web site for complete program information.
