[Community Development Banking List]
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recently published the “2001 Directory of National Bank Community Development Investments.” The directory is an annotated list of investments that banks made under a special authority the U.S. Congress granted them to make investments in real estate, small businesses and other projects that benefit low- and moderate-income people or in areas that a government agency has designated for redevelopment. It’s the authorization that allows banks to invest in CDFIs and to purchase Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, for example.
The 2001 directory (and those for several prior years) is available on the OCC’s web site, http://www.occ.treas.gov/cdd/resource.htm#CDC
