New Curriculum: Energy & Society
Posted by on August 22, 2003
Project Learning Tree has an exciting new program, Energy & Society, available from Project Learning Tree. This set of preK-8 activities and materials integrate science, music, dance, and hands-on activities to help students learn about energy concepts and develop critical thinking skills.
The Energy & Society Activity Guide contains six activities, action project ideas and service learning opportunities, energy-related case studies, and a list of children’s literature related to energy.
The award winning “Energy and Me” CD, by singer/songwriter Billy B, includes fifteen high-energy songs in both English and Spanish. The CD was awarded a 2002 Children’s Music Web Award and a 2002 Parent’s Choice Foundation Award. For more information about these awards, please visit http://www.plt.org/curriculum/energy_cd.cfm. Several “Energy and Me” songs are used within an enclosed dance video. In addition, the kit contains multiple copies of two energy themed posters, “Where is the Energy” and “What Powers the Move”.
