Hi COMM-ORG,
I am very pleased to announce a new addition to the COMM-ORG Papers Collection:
Research for Democracy: Linking Community Organizing and Research to Leverage Blight Policy
by
Anne B. Shlay and Gordon Whitman
As we have recently been discussing how academic researchers and community activists may or may not be able to combine efforts, this paper is particularly timely. It is a very interesting example of how rather sophisticated statistical research was combined with sophisiticated community organizing to impact Philadelphia blight policy.
You can find the paper at the COMM-ORG “Papers” page, in the 2004 section:
http://comm-org.utoledo.edu/papers.htm
I hope that the paper inspires some discussion. Authors contribute papers to COMM-ORG in the hopes of getting comments, so please feel welcomed to contact authors directly or discuss their papers through the list.
Thanks so much to Anne and Gordon for contributing their work.
