CDC Releases County-by County Estimates for Leisure-time Physical Inactivity
The CDC recently released estimates on leisure-time inactivity for all counties in the United States. Counties in the Appalachian and Southern regions had the highest rates of leisure-time inactivity. Data on obesity, diabetes and physical inactivity trends are displayed on maps. The county level leisure-time physical inactivity estimates come from CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
Community organizations and policymakers can use the data to support urban design, land-use, and transportation policies to positively promote healthy communities. To see county-level estimates of physical inactivity, obesity and diagnosed diabetes, go to http://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/statistics.
