In Defense of the American Teen
An insider’s commentary on the state of our secondary schools
In Defense of the American Teen, Ryan Teves examines how secondary school is failing to excite older youth, particularly in science and math, and recalls how the same was true during his own education. The author earnestly defends the American teen and makes suggestions for change. Teves is a math and science teacher with a B.A. from UCSC in molecular, cellular and developmental biology, and a Masters degree in secondary education. He has owned and run a tutoring business for over seven years, and has worked in public and private schools, as well as summer and continuation programs.
