Introducing Penn-ing Progress
We are pleased to share a new platform for Foundation leadership and staff to connect with the community on issues we care about most. Our new blog, Penn-ing Progress, is a space for us to share information, stories and perspectives from our team to illustrate our commitment – and yours – to enhancing the quality and vitality of life in the Philadelphia region.

Earlier in the month, our Executive Director Shawn McCaney introduced the intent behind Penn-ing Progress. We recognize that public discourse is critical to making real progress toward achieving the outcomes we hope to see in our city, and look forward to sharing the things we’re learning and what inspires us to continue seeking newer and more creative ways to do so.

In our most recent post, program officer Rashanda Perryman on our Great Learning team illustrates what constitutes a high-quality pre-k environment. At the beginning of the year, a major priority of the Kenney administration was realized as thousands of children became the first to benefit from the new City-sponsored PHLpreK initiative. Explore what high-quality early childhood education looks like through the experiences of Rashanda’s daughter, Charlie.
