American Asthma Foundation Accepting Applications for New Asthma Research
The American Asthma Foundation supports highly innovative research from all fields relevant to asthma. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for its AAF Scholar Awards.
Through the annual program, AAF seeks to draw outstanding investigators from other fields into the study of asthma. Although investigators from within the field are welcome, AAF scholars are expected to have no prior experience studying asthma. The foundation will provide $150,000 per year for two years for asthma research projects, with the possibility of an additional $150,000 for a third year, based on progress and potential.
To be eligible, applicants must be a scientist working at a nonprofit research institution in the U.S. in any field that may reveal new pathways in the pathogenesis of asthma. Applicants also must be within ten years of their first independent faculty appointment (i.e., appointed on or after December 1, 2005) and have an independent research program, with independent national-level funding.
Investigators from the asthma field also are eligible to apply, but they must propose work that is a clear departure from their current research.
Visit the AAF website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1, 2015
