Networking for Youth Development Professionals

Posted by Sandbox Collective on March 21, 2016

Join us in April to celebrate three years of Sandbox gatherings for networking & professional development. At this meeting we’ll explore various rituals and routines of celebration that we can implement in our work. These rituals and routines can also be ways of documenting our work and meeting grant deliverables.

Join us in April to celebrate three years of Sandbox gatherings for networking & professional development. At this meeting we’ll explore various rituals and routines of celebration that we can implement in our work. These rituals and routines can also be ways of documenting our work and meeting grant deliverables.

In an effort to help expand people’s networks, each attendee is asked to invite and bring at least one person with them. Consider bringing someone who you think others really MUST meet; bring someone who needs a little push to get out of his/her comfort zone; bring someone you’ve been wanting to get to know better. If everyone does this we’ll all expand our networks and have a lively discussion about how we celebrate our work.

At every gathering we offer suggestions, tips and resources about how you can take back with you the things we discuss and learn together, so you will return to your program with new ideas, resources and new connections.

The Goals of The Sandbox Collective: To create an alternative to traditional professional development experiences and to host a forum for networking, resource sharing and collaboration for adults who: work with, on behalf of, and advocate for youth in Philadelphia.

You should join us if these guiding principles resonate with you:

  • You use a strengths-based approach to work with youth, families & communities;
  • You have an interest in collaborating with adults who work with, for, and/or on behalf of youth;
  • You look at your work as a juicy extension of your purpose;
  • A part of you wants to create from outside of the ‘systems’;
  • You think that work and play can co-exist;
  • You are seeking thought/test partners who share similar values abut their approach to working with youth, families, & communities
