National Youth Service Day April 16-18, 2004
The NYSD Rally and Youth Activities Fair will be held on Saturday April 17th from 9am-1pm at the
National Constitution Center
525 Arch Street
Philadelphia, PA 19106
In addition to the student displays we will have a Voter Registration booth; and opportunities for people to sign the Violence No More in 2004 Pledge initiated on MLK Day this year.
Part of the event will be a formal program (starting at approximately 10 am) featuring several youth speakers; performers; comments from Paul Vallas; and presentation of a selected number of the Hands of Peace Awards.
We are hoping Governor Rendell and Mayor Street will also attend.
National Youth Service Day (NYSD) is the single largest service event in the world. In Philadelphia the NYSD theme is “Hands of Peace: Strengthening Communities” and we are celebrating the ongoing efforts of young people who are contributing positively to their communities through service and civic engagement. If you would like to host a project or would like your students to have a display table at the Constitution Center highlighting their work for peace, please call Craig Heim at 215.351.7656 for more information.
