National Youth Service Day – Philadelphia
Posted by on February 14, 2003
April 11-13, 2003
National Youth Service Day (NYSD), coordinated nationally by Youth Service America (YSA) and sponsored by State Farm Insurance, is the largest service event in the world, involving more than 3 million people in the USA. NYSD has become a youth service tradition that recognizes and rewards young people for being proactive in their communities. For additional background and NYSD planning toolkits, please visit the YSA website at http://www.ysa.org.
The National School and Community Corps (NSCC) has been selected by YSA as the ?local lead agency? to coordinate events for NYSD 2003, to be held on April 12. NSCC intends to initiate approximately 20 projects at its own sites?primarily schools– and also coordinate kick-off rallies at 4 locations around the city on the morning of the 12th prior to service activities taking place. At these rallies young people will be honored for their previous service activities and there will be speakers and entertainment. NSCC will also act as a clearinghouse for projects initiated by other partner organizations and will assist in providing overall coordination for the day.
If you are interested in organizing a project, please complete the Project Registration Form and fax it to Craig Heim at National School and Community Corps: 215.351.7258. If you have any questions or need assistance please call Craig at 215.351.7656.
