THE LATINO INSTITUTE, INC. INVITES YOU TO THE
NATIONAL LATINO EDUCATION SUMMIT
TO BE HELD APRIL 3-5, 2005
AT
MGM GRAND HOTEL AND CASINO
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
This educational summit is being convened by a group of the most distinguished Latino educators in the country. These educators include college presidents, superintendents of schools, and notable researchers.
The summit will be a showcase featuring the latest research on issues impacting the education of Latinos in the United States. Featured research topics to be discussed include educational achievement at the K-12 level, how the NCLB is affecting Latino children, bilingual education achievement results, the use technology by Latino children and families, pathways and college access, dropout and retention issues at the college level and access to graduate schools and the professions. In addition to the traditional conference deliberations, the summit will also feature a national press conference detailing the latest results of the most up-to-date research.
Invited keynote speakers and presenters include Dr. Elsa Mac?as, Director of Research for the Tom?s Rivera Policy Institute, Dr. Rafael Aragunde, Chancellor, University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, Dr. Sarita Brown, Senior Fellow, Pew Hispanic Center and Executive Director, Excelencia in Education, Inc., Dr. W. Scott Swail, President, Educational policy Institute, Inc. and Roberto Suro, Director, Pew Hispanic Center.

The summit is being hosted by The Latino Institute, Inc. a national private, non-profit, charitable organization. The mission of the institute is to serve as a bridge between the Latino communities, and the educational, governmental, social and economic institutions of society by providing accurate, factual and timely information on the barriers and challenges affecting the education, growth, development and well-being of those communities and by developing, recommending, and advocating solutions and actions which may serve as a catalyst for change.
