National Hunger Hotline Assists Americans in Need
The National Hunger Hotline (1-866-348-6479), managed by WhyHunger, connects individuals in need of food assistance to local resources including community-based organizations, government assistance programs and various social services. In addition, the Hotline serves as a clearinghouse of information for organizations, donors and volunteers by fielding questions on emergency food distribution, gleaning, nutrition, and funding sources. The Hotline operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm EST. WhyHunger also has an online directory of community resources called the Grassroots Resource Directory. Flyers promoting the National Hunger Hotline are available to download in English and Spanish.
