National Governors Association Launches “Service United”

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, the new chair of the National Governors Association launched his signature initiative, “Service United,” with $10 million in philanthropic support from The Andrew Carnegie Foundation to kickstart its efforts. Service United is a bipartisan call upon governors across the nation to promote paid workforce and community development through state-based service programs. The initiative will evaluate, scale and help implement a diverse array of service programs in participating states over the next year.
The first round of grantmaking is open for applications through October 23, 2026. The process starts with governors’ offices submitting an Expression of Interest through the Service United Fund website. A second round will open after the November elections to ensure that both current governors and those who take office in 2027 can apply for funding.
