National Clearinghouse on Service-Learning for Healthy Aging

Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) is pleased to announce the work of CCPH Fellow Debra Sheets. Debra created The National Clearinghouse on Service-Learning for Healthy Aging (http://www.healthyaging.us). The Clearinghouse on Service-learning for Healthy Aging (CSLHA) is a voluntary effort to gather information on initiatives that promote health through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. The Clearinghouse is a growing network of faculty in higher education from all disciplines who are dedicated to service-learning that promotes the health of older adults. CSLHA partnerships share common goals that include:
? Building partnerships between community organizations and higher educational institutions to address the needs of the community
? Incorporating service-learning into the education of all college students
? Developing a network of colleagues to provide support and information
Debra Sheets is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Gerontology Program at California State University, Northridge. She received her doctorate in Gerontology and Public Policy from the University of So. California. Prior to receiving her doctoral degree, she worked for nearly 20 years as a registered nurse.
