Deadline: June 30, 2006 (Capability Survey)
The National Center for Family Literacy (<a href="http://famlit.org/"> http://famlit.org/</a>) has announced that it will award five grants of $600,000 each to implement the Toyota Family Literacy Program, a highly successful literacy initiative benefiting Hispanic and other immigrant families. The program is seeking five school districts in communities with large or fast-growing Hispanic and other immigrant populations. Selected cities will receive grants in the amount of $350,000 for direct funding, training, and technical assistance. The remaining $250,000 will cover other support services from NCFL over the next three years. Urban as well as rural communities are encouraged to apply. Grant awards will be made based on a competitive application process. Interested school districts must download, complete, and return a capability survey by June 30, 2006.
