Muslim Organizing Consultant, Kol Tzedek
Posted by Kol Tzedek on December 4, 2017
Kol Tzedek (KT) is hiring a Muslim Organizing Consultant to work in conjunction with the KT Muslim Solidarity Committee to ensure our congregation stands with and supports Muslims in our West Philadelphia community. Our goal is to create relationships with local Muslim communities, and to work with them against Islamophobia and discrimination.
As a temporary position, the main role of the consultant would be to coordinate with other local groups more intensively than volunteer work allows, and respond to current events rapidly. Because the goal is to build permanent relationships, the person hired should be already involved in related work as a Muslim activist in the West Philadelphia community and available to continue serving as a liaison after this year. While this consultant would take the lead in communicating with other organizations and finding and supporting coordination on projects, actual activities would include other people from the Committee and the broader Kol Tzedek community.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced leader and advocate who has worked in an interfaith environment, and is well-connected to the West Philadelphia Muslim community. The consultant should be an excellent communicator who is skilled at establishing and maintaining relationships, and a self-starter who enjoys developing innovative programming. This position will be involved with coordination and planning of designated community-wide events to bring to deepen relationships.
The consultant will be paid a stipend of $5,000 for roughly 16 hours/month (~4 hours/week) of work for 9 months, beginning in January 2018. Interested applicants should submit a resume, in addition to a one page summary of goals and objectives that the applicant would suggest for the first month in their role. Please email Rachel Wener at [email protected] with your application. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis starting on December 15, 2017.
