HeadCount is looking for community organizing virtuosos who want to immerse themselves in the 2020 election through non-partisan voter registration. Experience working with entertainment venues, voter registration, campaigns, volunteer management, special events is a plus.

ABOUT US

HeadCount is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that uses the power of music to register voters and promote participation in democracy.  We stage voter registration and turnout drives at a diverse array of events and locations, through a network of over 40,000 volunteers. Our partners include Ariana Grande, Dead & Company, March for Our Lives, MTV, Black Futures Lab, Democracy Works, Ben & Jerry’s, and American Eagle Outfitters.

ABOUT THE ROLE

HeadCount’s Grassroots Organizer will work remotely and report to the Director of Voter Engagement. This is not your traditional 9 to 5 job and requires nontraditional hours and flexibility. The Organizer will be responsible for staging at least five voter registration drives per week, and working with local volunteers and HeadCount “Team Leaders” to expand the presence to as many as 10 events per week. The Organizer will be responsible for sourcing and maintaining relationships with music and entertainment venues, event promoters, other local businesses, community organizers, high schools, colleges, and service providers. Through this network, the organizer is expected to set up high impact and high volume voter registration drives. A large percentage of these drives should reach a diverse or underserved audience.  The Organizer will be trained on legal compliance in voter registration for all states. They must have a strong eye for detail and be confident in high-quality voter registration without errors or omissions. They also must be comfortable being nonpartisan and providing voter registration services to all applicants regardless of political beliefs.  Travel will be a requirement of the position as events and opportunities may present themselves state-wide.  This is a contract position that will end on or before Election Day 2020. Compensation is commensurate with experience and competitive within the nonprofit sector.
