muraLAB: Transformazium in Philadelphia
Monday, May 9th, 2016 | 6:00pm-8:00pm
Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch Street
Join artists Leslie Stem, Dana Bishop-Root, and Ruthie Stringer to discuss eight years of collaborative work that incorporates voices often under-represented in the larger art world—young people, the elderly, communities of color, people from poor and working class backgrounds, and those outside of the university education system.
Transformazium began with the revitalization of a burned-out, abandoned church in Braddock, PA and grew into an ongoing partnership with the Braddock Carnegie Library, located outside of Pittsburgh. Transformazium spearheads local projects such as “Neighborhood Conversation Starters” and the “Artist in the Library Series.”
