Job Description:
The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is looking for an Art Instructor for Mural Corps–an after-school art education program that operates nine locations throughout the city of Philadelphia. This program is a rigorous mural painting and art education program for teens. The art instructor is viewed as a mentor to the students, sharing their training and sensibility with the youth (class ratio of 8:1). The program runs in three 11 week sessions, two days a week, 3:00 ? 6:00 p.m. starting in late September 2006 and running though June 2007. The summer session runs for 6 weeks, July to mid-August 2007, five half days a week. Requirements: BA in Art or Art Education; some experience in painting murals; strong leadership and classroom management skills; teaching experience; strong desire to work with teens.
Please note: All Mural Art educators are required to have a Pennsylvania Child Abuse Report and Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check upon 30 days of hire.
