JOIN US FOR our ART HOUSE OPENING and MURAL dedication!
Friday, June 10, 2011 – 4 – 6:30 p.m.
3828 Melon Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104
Mural Arts invites you to celebrate the dedication of the A Place to Call Home project, which highlights the unique housing challenges facing urban children and youth in Philadelphia.
Experience A Place to Call Home through this collaborative public artwork, inspired by the voices of 48 Mural Corps students whose photography and interviews generated the professional work. The work includes:
* Multi-media installations in a reclaimed vacant house
* A “community mural” made up of painted houses, which span the 3800 block of Melon Street
* A series of site-specific murals and wheat pastes leading to the site
FREE public tours take place on Saturday June 11, 18 & 25 starting at 11:30 a.m., where trained docents will guide guests through these unique art projects. The tour departs from Rowan House, 325 N. 39th Street. To schedule your tour, click here.
