Mural Academy Site Manager
Job Description

Mural Academy is summer mural-making workshop for high school students. During the course of the program students learn about all aspects of the mural-making process including theme development, design, and transfer methods. Mural Academy draws on established curriculums of the Mural Arts Program (MAP) art education programs utilizing the experience and talent of MAP instructors, and artists, and the Philadelphia School District art teachers.

The Mural Academy Site Manager will:

Create curriculum for 6 week summer program, including individual art projects, a small scale mural, and a research/writing project.

Meet with school principals and leaders of community/recreation centers to set up summer sites.

Meet with MAP Art Education staff to provide weekly updates.

Recruit and enroll students in PYN Youthworks program, including gathering all necessary paperwork. Keep all student files organized.

Ensure that all sites are running in compliance with PYN standards.

Conduct daily site visits to three Mural Academy sites, visiting each site 2-3 times per week. Ensure that all sites are running smoothly and address any concerns that may arise.

Maintain payroll (including collection of timesheets and distribution of paychecks, checking for accuracy).

Hold regular instructor meetings.

Serve as main contact for all issues related to summer school district programming.

Compile all necessary reports and information relevant to programming.

Hours:
Part time, temporary position
April to June: 15-20 hours/week, mostly afternoons and evenings
July-August: 30 hours/week, mornings and afternoons

Qualifications:
Degree in Art or Education
Experience working with youth
Flexible schedule
Highly organized
Excellent communication skills
Access to a car for transportation
