Computer Lab Technician
Responsibilities:
? Installation, configuration, trouble-shooting and maintenance of computer workstations for general public access to the Internet and other software applications, as well as staff computers in the Lab and in the Children’s Department.
? Assists Electronic Resources librarian with operations of 20 seat computer lab, including signing patrons in, providing one-on-one assistance, and training and supervising volunteers. Provides coverage in lab in rotation with lab staff and volunteers. Helps train and supervise volunteers assigned to cover computer lab. Provides training for lab staff in groups or one-on-one in areas relating to technical operation of equipment and software.
? Assists Electronic Resources Librarian with developing, maintaining and updating library home page and web information.
? Responsible for assisting electronic resources librarian with developing, maintaining and updating library home page and web information, documentation for workstations, software and training programs.
? Works with Electronic Resources Librarian, automation coordinator, and other appropriate staff to determine and maintain optimal configurations of workstations, workstation security software, and other set-up decisions affecting how electronic. Electronic resources technician works with electronic resources librarian, automation coordinator, and MCLINC systems administrator to develop, load, and maintain web pages and links to internet resources.
? Responsible for keeping the 20 public access computers granted thru Gates Foundation operating at optimum levels. Responsible for installation, configuration and troubleshooting of upgrades to the granted hardware and software as well as new hardware and software that may be added. Responsible for suggesting and implementing changes to the user profiles to better serve users.
