MLK Day of Service
Posted by Corporation for National and Community Service on January 12, 2015
As we approach the end of another successful year of service, we want to wish you a happy holiday season! As you reflect on 2014 and look toward the new year, we hope you will continue the holiday spirit of giving and join us on the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 19, 2015.
The MLK Day of Service is part of President Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve. It’s a great opportunity to make an annual commitment to serve your community and honor Dr. King’s life and legacy through service. Through the example of the causes he championed, he taught us that we all have a role to play in keeping our nation great.
If your organization needs ideas for projects that align with your current initiatives, MLKDay.gov is a great resource for service project examples and communication tools. You can also post your own project or find volunteer opportunities near you.
Here are four actions you should take right now to make MLK Day successful:
- Register and promote your volunteer service project
- Join the MLK Service Network
- Make a pledge to serve
- Follow us on Facebook and Twitter
Please don’t hesitate to contact us at MLKDay@cns.gov. Let us know how we can support your organization’s efforts on the MLK Day of Service!
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’ ”
We hope that you will join CNCS and thousands of organizations and individuals to answer this question and honor Dr. King through service on January 19.
