AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation invites applications from nonprofits addressing adverse childhood experiences
The AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation is dedicated to preventing and mitigating adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which will help drive positive outcomes for children’s health and set a strong foundation for a lifetime of wellness. In addition to preventing and mitigating ACEs, the foundation promotes protective and compensatory childhood experience (sometimes referred to as PACEs), which can counteract the effects of ACEs.
Grants awarded through the foundation are based on three pillars: empowered families, healing behaviors, and access to health care. To promote these pillars, the foundation prioritizes nonprofit organizations that work to end ACEs by supporting families and children and equipping them for an emotionally healthy future. The foundation expects to make one-year, project-specific grants totaling up to $1.945 million, with awards ranging from $100,000 to $250,000.
Applicants must provide programs and support that are comprehensive, customized, asset-based, and community-led; focus on healing behaviors, access to health care, and/or empowering families; reach communities with a high proportion of Medicaid enrollees; have a demonstrated impact; and be responsible for the implementation and management of the project.
To be eligible, organizations (and/or their fiscal sponsor) must be a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-designated nonprofit organization and be located in a U.S. state or territory in which AmeriHealth Caritas Medicaid health markets operate, which are Delaware, District of Columbia, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
