Migrant Education Conference

We are pleased to announce that the “2010 OME Conference: Success through Service” is scheduled for November 15-17, 2010, at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The conference begins on Monday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m. and concludes on Wednesday, November 17th at 12:00 p.m. The purpose of this conference is to bring together key MEP staff to hear from the Office of Migrant Education (OME) and your colleagues from other States regarding the implementation of the Migrant Education Program (MEP) as it relates to interstate and intrastate coordination, including, but not limited to: Identification and Recruitment (ID&R), the Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX), promising practices around instructional continuity, service delivery strategies, support services, use of technology, secondary credit accrual options, services for pre-school and out-of-school youth, and evaluating program success.

Important Note – no other passwords (i.e. the passwords previously given to the state directors) will be needed. The only password that will work is OME-2010. If you have already registered, you do not need to register again. (Please also note: you must be an authorized MSIX user to attend an MSIX lab session. For more information, click on “details” link located next to the attending MSIX training checkbox when registering.)

The contracted rate for this conference is the prevailing government rate which, as of September 1, 2010, is $149 for a single or double, plus 15.2% occupancy tax. The hotel’s cut-off date for the government rate is October 29, 2010. Make your reservations soon!
For travel planning purposes, please note that the Binational Forum will be held from November 17- 19, 2010 (with a delegate meeting to be held on the 16th), at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
