In Response to Education Cuts, Mighty Writers Ramps Up Afterschool Services
When Tim Whitaker learned of the School District’s most recent cuts—closing schools following dismissal and on weekends to save money on staff, utilities and overtime—he immediately took action by extending Mighty Writers program hours and adding more evening and weekend writing workshops. The afterschool program is now open until 8 pm Monday through Thursday, as opposed to just 6 pm, and all day on Sundays.
