Midwest Academy Advanced Strategy Seminar

Posted by on April 04, 2011

Are you in the early stages of planning an issue campaign?  Or in the middle of a campaign that isn’t going where it needs to?

Come to the Midwest Academy Advanced Strategy Seminar and spend three days applying best practices to your organization’s campaign strategy. Hear about the strategic work that went into recent victories, and learn how to look for potential openings to advance your organization’s agenda. Begin the actual research and planning to set your issue campaign on a more effective path.

This session is aimed at experienced organizers who are responsible for leading winning issue campaigns, and who would like to spend some concentrated time honing their skills and developing a specific plan for
an actual campaign, with plenty of feedback from their peers, staff of the Midwest Academy and special guests who have led successful campaigns in the past.

WHAT: In this session, participants will explore the elements of an effective strategy, and apply them to an actual issue campaign that their organization is undertaking. How can your organization develop enough power to make elected officials take you seriously? What new opportunities are available to your organization? What can be learned from recent winning campaigns?

Participants will spend three days researching and refining strategy for their own issue campaign, and leave with a blueprint for action.

WHO: senior organizing staff, who are working on specific issue campaigns and have authority to develop strategy. Priority will be given to people who have attended the Midwest Academy five-day session, and
everyone is encouraged to do so before applying for this advanced seminar.  More than one staff person from an organization may attend simultaneously and work together on the strategy.

WHEN:  April 13-15
