Microenterprise Solutions for the World’s Poorest
Posted by on July 9, 2004
Metropolitan College, New York City will host this symposium.
The Trickle Up Program is seeking submissions in the microenterprise field for a symposium and publication linked to our 25th anniversary. Trickle Up is a nonprofit organization that provides microenterprise development services targeted at the poorest in 27 countries including the U.S. Trickle Up provides seed capital in the form of grants linked to savings, basic business training, and support services, delivered by local partner NGOs and community-based organizations.
Submissions should address “Innovative Microenterprise Solutions Targeted at the Poorest”. The focus is on innovative programs and pilot projects that have shown positive impact in reducing poverty among the poorest, or have the potential to do so, in Africa, Asia and Latin America. There are three categories of papers:
1) Innovations that have been tested in the field;
2) Innovations based on a theoretical framework that have practical implications; and
3) Innovations targeting vulnerable populations, e.g., indiviudals and families affected by HIV/AIDS; people with disabilities; displaced people; and indigenous groups.
This call for papers is an opportunity for Trickle Up and others to learn from promising innovations and those tested by institutions or individuals. Through the symposium and subsequent publication of selected papers, we plan to share these ideas.
The deadline for submissioh of abstracts has been extended to July 12th, 2004. For submission guidelines, visit the Trickle Up website at http://www.trickleup.org
