POSITION: Citigroup Microenterprise Researcher Internship
INTERNSHIP DATES: May 21, 2007 ? August 10, 2007
HOURS: 40 per week
COMPENSATION: $12/hour
REPORTS TO: Executive Director & Director of Lending, PDP
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of the intern will be to assist the Philadelphia Development Partnership (PDP) with the collection of client outcomes data using MicroTest tools and data collection protocols. Additional projects and experiences designed to contribute to PDP and further the intern?s knowledge of the domestic microenterprise field will be assigned?time permitting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Attend Citigroup Microenterprise Researcher Internship orientation and close-out meetings at the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C. (mandatory)
? Work with the Executive Director and Director of Lending, using MicroTest protocols, to assist in the development of program research design, timelines and procedures.
? Assist in new data collection activities, including selecting a random client sample, preparing contact information, alerting clients of potential interviews, conducting phone surveys for impact measurement, and consolidating data for MicroTest reports.
? Assist in client follow-up, data cleaning, and verification activities.
? Assist in framing significant issues, data analysis and report development?time permitting.
? Present findings to PDP staff and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
? Graduate students, preferably having completed their first year of graduate study. Exceptional undergraduate applications will be accepted.
? Pursuing a degree in any of the social sciences, public policy, administration, planning, business administration, or related fields
? Demonstrated experience in and/or coursework in research methods
? Proven strong skills in communication, survey or interviewing, and Excel
? Detail-oriented, highly organized and interested in pursuing a career that addresses domestic poverty
? Available during the period of May 21 through August 10, 2007
