Volunteer Position Description, Pathways PA

VOLUNTEER CATERGORY:     Mentor

COMMITMENT TIME:     A minimum commitment of one year with a minimum of four contacts per month with mentee.

AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT:    Commitment to developing a supportive relationship with a member of the AI Center Mentoring Program

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Twenty one years or older*
•    Sincere desire to be personally involved in the life of a young person assist in achieving their personal goals
•    Ability to communicate in an open and non-judgmental manner
•    Ability to establish a relationship based on equal responsibility and respect
•    Practical problem solving skills and ability to suggest options and alternatives
•    Sensitivity to persons of different educational, economic, cultural, or racial backgrounds
•    Pass Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal Background Check

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Make a minimum of one year commitment to developing and maintaining a mentor relationship with a young adult
•    Attend mentor orientation and training sessions before mentoring begins and attend ongoing mentor training and group sessions
•    Meet with mentee a minimum of two times a month face to face and communicate and interact with mentee on a consistent basis
•    Maintain activity logs and other information as requested by program staff

*Special consideration to prospective volunteers age 18 or older who are in college.
