Mentors needed for Tech Camp
Posted by STEM City PHL on January 12, 2018
STEMcityPHL is currently recruiting mentors for our Tech Camp after school program at School of the Future! Tech Camp will meet every Tuesday beginning on February 6 through March 27 from 2:45 – 4:30 PM. Students in this program will identify a local, national, or global issue and design a website aimed at solving this issue. This program will culminate in an opportunity for students to showcase their final projects and network with local tech professionals.
We are developing this program with the support of the Urban Technology Project, JEVS TechServ Scholars, and Skyless Games Studios, but we would love to have the support of other local tech professionals as we continue to expand this program. The goal of Tech Camp is to expose students to coding and web design, while providing lots of opportunities for students to network with professionals in the tech industry. Employers in the Philadelphia area have added more than 25,000 new tech jobs since 2002, equivalent to 25% of all net job growth in Greater Philadelphia during that period. We want to ensure that Philadelphia has the tech talent to fill these positions.
If you are interested in being a mentor or a guest speaker at Tech Camp, please sign up here. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
