Consortium offers workshop on Mental Health First Aid
The Consortium, Inc. will be offering a Mental Health First Aid class on September 27th and 28th.
Think CPR for mental illness. Mental Health First Aid USA is a groundbreaking public education program that equips the public to help persons with mental illnesses and substance use disorders connect to care.
MHFA is a highly interactive, 12-hour course that leads to MHFA Certification and is offered in small groups. It gives individuals the ability to recognize potential warning signs and risks factors for depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, eating disorders and substance use disorders. Participants learn to use a 5-step action plan to provide the tools to connect an individual to professional assistance, and other available resources. Anyone can participate in this innovative and interactive training–people from all walks of life have benefitted from being able to recognize and respond appropriately to the signs of mental distress in individuals.
