Fannie Mae Foundation Accepting Entries for Maxwell Awards of Excellence Program
Deadline: June 30, 2006
The Fannie Mae Foundation’s (<a href="http://www.fanniemaefoundation.org/">http://www.fanniemaefoundation.org/</a> Maxwell Awards of Excellence Program seeks to identify, recognize, and showcase the outstanding work of nonprofit organizations in developing and maintaining affordable housing.
For Round Sixteen of the awards, the foundation, in partnership with the National Vacant Properties Campaign (<a href="http://www.vacantproperties.org/">http://www.vacantproperties.org/</a>), will award up to four $50,000 grants to projects that showcase excellence in the reclamation of vacant and abandoned properties in the production of affordable housing. Awards will be made in the following four categories: most impressive overall affordable housing benefit; most innovative partnership; most successful public/private partnership; and most effective catalyst for community revitalization.
To be eligible for an award, the project must have been developed or sponsored by a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and have been occupied between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2005. All projects must have produced a minimum of five units, and all or a portion of the project must serve the needs of low-income families or individuals. Both new construction and rehabilitation projects are eligible for consideration. Projects in which Fannie Mae is either a debt or equity participant are not eligible.
Visit the Fannie Mae Foundation Web site for complete program information and application instructions.
