JOB TITLE: Marketing Manager
DEPARTMENT: Development – Executive Administration
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB SCHEDULE: 9-5 weekdays; evenings and weekends as needed
EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION(S):
Manages and implements strategic marketing plan by performing duties and tasks related to development and marketing/public relations and supports agency services by coordinating the volunteer program, outreach, and special events.
QUALIFICATION(S) (including any credentials, skills, experience and health requirements):
Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a liberal arts discipline. Demonstrated work experience in the nonprofit and/or education sectors; direct service experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in working independently and collaboratively. Competency in, and ability to learn use of, relevant software and websites, including MS Office Suite, GiftWorks, WordPress, Constant Contact, Facebook, and Twitter. Experience in creating internet-based and hard copy fundraising and marketing content and publications. Proficiency in use of website, e-newsletter, and social media to communicate with agency supporters for fundraising and marketing purposes. Ability to remain well versed on new trends and best practices regarding social media, websites, email communications, and fundraising. Proficiency in grant application research and writing preferred. Acceptable Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Investigation, and FBI Clearance. Must have valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMAND(S): Periodically carry marketing materials and donations. Ability to participate in volunteer service projects, which may include: cleaning and assisting with repairs to facilities and equipment. Ability to travel to YSI programs and other locations for meetings and events.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Marketing/Public Relations:
Coordinate the use of social/digital media for the implementation of a marketing campaign for agency programs.
Create and write copy (and act as project manager) for agency-wide marketing materials, to include annual report, program flyers, agency website and electronic newsletter, Facebook page, and Twitter feed
Interview clients and agency partners for marketing purposes described in previous bulleted item
Assist in developing community partnerships and relationships with other nonprofit organizations and corporations.
Write and place press releases and media alerts.
Maintain procedures manual incorporating management of website, e-newsletter, social media, annual report, donor database, and volunteer program.
Manage/nurture relations with current donors and develop relations with potential new donors
Volunteer Management Responsibilities:
Manage agency volunteer program including research and generation of ideas for possible volunteer projects and sourcing, recruitment and placement of corporate/organizational and individual volunteers at program sites.
Maintain volunteer paperwork and ensure that volunteers comply with agency clearance requirements.
Maintain procedure manual for managing volunteer program and related tasks.
Donor/Constituent Management Responsibilities:
Set up and maintain solicitation calendar.
Maintain the development database; ensure proper update of donor records and acknowledgment of donor gifts; generate reports from database and use to prepare and distribute agency fundraising and marketing materials (including appeals and annual report).
Prepare all correspondence for mailing and distribution for solicitation efforts.
Support agency partners, such as YSI’s Young Friends group, in carrying out fundraising events/campaigns to support YSI.
Accept in-kind donations and update list of in-kind needs for website.
Coordinate annual holiday giving program to include Adopt-A-Family program, gift collection drives, holiday meal program at YES and holiday meal program for YSI families.
Communicate with involved parties in regards to, and assist with, various agency events.
Adhere to the agency’s code of ethics.
