Program Summary:
The Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) currently has a great opportunity in our Marketing and Communications department for students to get hands on experience in the day to day operations of successfully branding and marketing a company. We are looking for students who are interested in communications and/or marketing and have a strong desire to hone their writing skills. These positions are integral to UAC, as they support the workflow and communications efforts and directly impact the communication outreach of the organization.

Position Summary:
Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in marketing, social media, creative writing and preferably photography. The position would also require administrative work and candidates would need to be available a minimum of 10 hours a week. Communications Interns works directly with the Marketing and Communications Manager assisting with marketing, communications and public relations projects.

Reports To: Felicia Harris, Marketing and Communications Manager

Salary & Benefits:
This is an unpaid internship; however it can count towards academic/college credit.

Hours: Flexible. Minimum 10 hours per week. Prefer intern commit to at least 2 days per week. Must attend weekly 1-hour staff meetings. Most projects can be done out of office.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:

• Assist with marketing projects
• Manage social media campaigns
• Assist with creation of UAC Media Room
• Assist with publishing weekly email publications
• Draft content for newsletters, press releases and articles
• Attend UAC events
• Assist in the final preparation for marketing materials; proofread, editing, posting on sites
• Draft content for blogs and manage postings

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skills Needed:
• Detail oriented
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines
• Creative Writing Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Flexible and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities, and willingness to learn
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be competent social media user – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn

More Details:
**Please note this is an unpaid internship but you can receive school academic credit if accepted by your university or college.
