The Food Trust, founded in 1992, grew out of a desire to bring affordable, nutritious, fresh fruits and vegetables to people in the inner city. The Food Trust’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food.
The Food Trust is seeking a community outreach associate to help build support for and awareness around our Philly Food Buck Program and our Farmers’ Markets especially in Philadelphia’s Latino communities.
Responsibilities include:
Establishing and fostering relationships with communities surrounding our farmers’ markets including entities such as neighborhood organizations, community development corporations, faith based organizations, and human services providers.
Creating purchasing links between community groups and farmers in an effort to access new avenues for farmers to sell their produce.
Attending health fairs and community events with an emphasis on promoting the use of ACCESS/Food Stamps and Philly Food Bucks at our Farmers’ Markets.
Collaborating with Farmers’ Market Program team members.
Possessing cultural competencies for diverse groups.
Overseeing project activities and ensuring project objectives are met.
On-site management of at least one weekly Farmers’ Market.
Qualifications:
Fluency in Spanish is required.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience in community outreach and organizing.
Experience in customer service environments and an appreciation for fresh food is a plus.

Hours: Approximately 20 to 30 hrs. /week with occasional nights & weekends
Location: Philadelphia **
Salary: $9/hour
