Job Description
Organization Summary
EducationWorks (EW) is a nonprofit organization providing academic support, career readiness, and enrichment programming throughout Greater Philadelphia. By tackling core issues like literacy, graduation rates, safety and
social awareness, we are equipping individuals with the tools needed to stay safe, finish school, make better
choices, and become more productive members of their communities.
Recognizing that each child has unique needs, staff works directly with community and school leaders to identify
challenges and create customized programs that will have the greatest impact. From in-school programs to after-school and summer programs, children from six weeks to adulthood are positively impacted by EducationWorks
programming.
Position Summary
The Manager of Impact and Operations will be responsible for managing the direction and implementation of EducationWorks’ Out of School Time (OST) and In School programs and summer camps funded through the
City of Philadelphia and Camden, NJ, as well as other OST programs at the site, such as 21stCCLC. The OST
Operations Manager will report to the Director of Learning and Impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with the Director of Learning and Impact and EducationWorks Staff to develop and implement high-quality curricula and projects for the afterCschool, in school, and camp programs
• Ensure full enrollment of programs by assisting teams in publicizing the programs, recruiting, and enrolling
children
• Actively engage in the programs, observing activities and providing support and direction to group leaders and
staff
• Responsible for maintaining relationships with Principal and School Leadership Teams, when Site Coordinator
has not successfully responded to a particular issue
• Assist with planning of special events, trips, etc
• Work with sites to develop parent involvement activities
• Collaborate with the Licensing Coordinator in licensing the programs and pursuing quality as defined by PHMC
guidelines
• Establish weekly PHMC compliance dashboard for reporting
• Maintain 100% compliance at all sites monthly
• Facilitate the receipt of accurate and timely documentation from the program sites
• Assist with preparation of required funders’ reports
• Create and prepare forms, documents, flyers, monthly calendars, parent information boards, and binders needed by the program sites
• Work with Site Coordinators to keep inventory of supplies, organization of materials, and coordinate ordering with the Impact Coordinator and EW office staff
• Assist sites in meeting with school staff as issues arise
• Participate and facilitate the weekly organizationCwide OST meetings
• Attend all relevant training and required meetings
• Supervise up to 10 direct reports and 75 indirect reports
• Develop and facilitate appropriate training sessions relevant to responsibilities within EW
• Other general administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Commitment to the mission of the EducationWorks
• Strong writing and strategic thinking skills
• Strong communication skills; comfortable representing the organization in meetings and larger venues
• Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to work as part of a team
• Ability to work independently, solve problems and be flexible
• Experience developing and leading projects that involve multiple stakeholders
• Willingness and desire to participate in unexpected projects
• Excellent organizational skills; proven competence with collection and management of documentation and paperwork
• Flexibility, professional demeanor, ability to respond calmly and positively to rapidly changing situations
• Comprehensive computer programming (Microsoft Word and Excel) and data reporting
• Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite 365 and Google Products (Hangout, Docs, etc )
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum three years’ direct service experience in urban schools or youth development programs
• Minimum three years’ supervisory experience of a team greater than five
Physical Requirements
Ability to physically perform the duties required and to work in the environmental conditions required such as
• Traveling to schools – valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation when necessary
• Maneuvering in an office space–reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls
• Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board or projector
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
