Brown bag discussion focuses on intergenerational communities
Generation Appreciation Philadelphia will host Looking at Neighborhoods through an Intergenerational Lens, a brown bag lunch presentation, on Thursday, August 13th.
Rachel B. Cohen, MUP/MSW, who has a diverse background in urban planning and geriatric social work, will share her unique perspective on the relationship between older adults, their homes, and their communities, with an intergenerational lens. She will explore the practice side of creating multi-disciplinary and multi-generational collaborations that aim to promote age-friendly cities and sustainable communities for a lifetime.
The discussion will include ways to identify common interests and needs between generations, social service organizations, community development corporations, and government agencies to leverage resources.
Cohen will also lead a small break-out session on why designing neighborhood infrastructure that benefits seniors also benefits young children and families, and the importance of developing programs in Philadelphia that provide opportunities for all ages to interact.
The event will take place from noon-1pm at Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, 222 North Seventeenth Street. To learn more, visit http://www.genphilly.org/ or email Kate Clark at [email protected] or call 215-765-9000 ext. 5072.
