Loan Fund Associate
at Progressive Jewish Foundation in Philadelphia, PA

A national public foundation established in 1988, The Shefa Fund educates and organizes American Jews and Jewish institutions to use our resources to build community and foster justice, thereby strengthening and enriching Jewish life. Shefa?s program TZEDEC: The Jewish Partnership for Community Investing is a national initiative to involve Jewish institutions in community and economic development. TZEDEC provides education, technical assistance and investment vehicles to help American Jews and Jewish organizations invest a portion of their assets in community development financial institutions (CDFIs) that help revitalize economically-disadvantaged neighborhoods. Since its inception in 1997, TZEDEC has catalyzed more than $20 million in investment from American Jewish sources nationwide, including foundations, federations and synagogues for investment in low-income community development, and also operates a $5 million loan fund.

The Shefa Fund seeks a full-time Loan Fund Associate to support TZEDEC?s loan fund activities.

Job Title: ZEDEC Loan Fund Associate

Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Financial and administrative tasks with a focuson TZEDEC?s revolving loan fund; also, research, writing, and communications. Works directly with TZEDEC Director and Shefa CFO.

General Loan Fund Administration
? Maintain & update database (Access) of investor, investment, fund information.
? Manage and improve loan/investment record-keeping system (files, spreadsheets, calendars).
? Monitor and assist in loan fund compliance with state regulations, including prospectus updates.
? Prepare regular management reports, fund financial statements, portfolio updates, including status reports for staff, loan fund committees, investors.
? Responsible for preparation of all loan documentation (using templates).

Investor Management
? Administer investment process for institutional/individual investors and CDFIs.
? Handle regular correspondence with investors, including scheduled interest and principal payments, renewals, annual reporting.

Investment Management
? Administer investment process for CDFIs borrowers.
? Serve as primary contact with banks and other CDFI borrowers.
? Assist in loan fund management, including money management and cash flow strategies.
? Assist in CDFI due diligence process, conduct research, write briefings.

Other program responsibilities:
? Provide administrative and program support to TZEDEC Director for loan fund activities.
? Assist in creation and distribution of reports, presentations and marketing materials.
? Provide TZEDEC investment information and support to interested parties by phone, e-mail, and correspondence.
? Assist in contact with and coordination of TZEDEC lay leadership (boards & advisory committees).
? Participate in departmental and interdepartmental collaborations.

Qualifications: Shefa is mission-driven, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, high-performance and closely-knit workplace. The ideal TZEDEC Loan Fund Associate will:

? Have at least three years relevant work experience.
? Ideally, have both prior training and experience in one or more of the following: finance, economics, data analysis, urban studies.
? Be a clear written and verbal communicator, with strong analytical, research and writing skills.
? Have strong word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, internet and email skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point a must; familiarity with Outlook
? Be thorough and organized, with close attention to details.
? Ideally, have interest in the community economic development movement, nonprofit sector, and Jewish community (prior knowledge of and experience in these areas is beneficial).
? Be able to work well independently and as part of a team; sense of humor a plus!
? Be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
? Have a college degree or equivalent.

Salary range: Low- $30Ks, based on experience. Excellent benefits.
