Lighthouse seeks Curfew Center volunteers

Last March, The Lighthouse opened The Lighthouse East Curfew Center, aimed at reducing the incidence of violence in Philadelphia?s eastern North Philadelphia neighborhoods.

A key element of the success of the Curfew Center is the direct engagement of community volunteers. Volunteers are the core of the program?s goal to reach the soul of the community?s youth brought to the Curfew Center during the overnight hours. Volunteers offer friendship, an understanding ear and provide critical advice to the young people, becoming instrumental to the success of the Curfew Center strategy in helping young people see hope and believe that adults in the community truly care about their success and healthy future.

The Lighthouse is asked for your help in recruiting new volunteers through a party organized to discuss and celebrate community volunteer involvement in The Lighthouse East Curfew Center into the future. The event will be held on Saturday August 25th from 7pm to 9pm at the Lighthouse Youth Services Center, 141 W. Somerset Street, in Philadelphia. Please RSVP to Robert Caban at 215-425-7800, ext. 305 or at [email protected]. For more information on The Lighthouse, visit here.
