LifeLine Program
Posted by on November 15, 2002
The LifeLine Program is designed to assist women in Philadelphia and surrounding area, who have left a domestic abuse situation. LifeLine will provide the skills and support these women need to enter or return to the workplace. Please call Penny Kardo at 215-854-1820 for questions or to enroll.
There are 23 weeks of computer training, bi-monthly group job skill sessions, one-on-one individual career counseling sessions as needed and a number of other incentives. There is a $10 stipend weekly for transportation while attending classes, available childcare reimbursement during the program and a $200 check upon graduations for those participants who attended a majority of the computer classes and career counseling sessions. Built-in to the program is an atmosphere that encourages peer support and coaching. Women are in an environment that enables them to develop relationships with a group that is comfortable.
After completion of the 23 week program, participants are welcome to return for review to the computer classes. Incentives are not available to returning students.
The program is free and a call to Penny Kardon, MS at 215-854-1820 is all it takes to start the process. Classes are held at the Orleans Center in the Northeast and career counseling is held at 1845 Walnut Street.
(LifeLine is a program of the Jewish Employment & Vocational Services. The program is open to all women who have left a domestic abuse situation).
