Life Skills Counselor- Supportive Housing Program

Valley Youth House’s Residential Programs assist homeless youth ages 17-21 to move into stable housing through a supportive, youth-centered model of service.
The Life Skills Counselor (LSC) supports youth in developing and implementing individual plans for independence including housing, employment, education, and life skills goals. The LSC also empowers youth to identify appropriate housing options, maintains weekly visits to the apartments, and supports youth as they gain the skills needed to maintain their housing.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A commitment to positive youth development and a strengths-based approach
Knowledge of the child welfare system and/or housing programs
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or other related field.
Minimum of one year experience working with older youth
Child Abuse, Criminal Background and FBI clearances.
Willingness to travel frequently throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods
Positive attitude and a sincere interest in working with teens
