Learning & Outreach Coordinator, Hope Center
Posted by Temple University on December 5, 2023
The Hope Center at Temple University is a nationally renowned action research center focused on rethinking and restructuring higher education and social policies, practices, and resources to secure students’ basic needs and create ecosystems of support for all students to complete college degrees. We believe that students are humans first and that their basic needs are central conditions for learning.
We work collaboratively with colleges and universities, government agencies, higher education organizations, students and community partners to evaluate, understand and advocate for practices and policies that lead to equitable outcomes for all students. Our approach is firmly grounded in equity-centered research, thoughtful practice, policy advocacy and social justice.
Based in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, we enjoy the benefits of working in a top research university while also collaborating with colleges and universities in communities across the nation.
The Learning and Outreach Coordinator works within the educational practice area of The Hope Center. Reporting to one of Hope’s research faculty members, the Learning and Outreach Coordinator works in collaboration with others in the practice area and across the Center to create strategy for and execute on the delivery of the Center’s Hope Impact Partnerships (HIP) program through which colleges and universities field the Student Basic Needs Survey and receive coaching and educational training and services to advance basic needs awareness and action on their respective campuses.
The Learning and Outreach Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the design and implementation of the HIP coaching component of the HIP program. They will create practitioner-focused materials, including toolkits and explainers, policy briefs, and other deliverables to assist colleges and universities. They work collaboratively with staff across the Center to ensure that learning from the field is translated into effective communications; incorporate policy advocacy as a key component of the coaching model; identify examples of practice that impact policy change; and surface areas of inquiry for the Center to explore through research and scholarship.
