Independent Sector Accepting Nominations for Leadership IS Award
Deadline: March 10, 2006

Independent Sector (<a href="http://www.independentsector.org/">http://www.independentsector.org/</a>) established the Leadership IS Award in 1999 to honor outstanding organizations for their leadership in investing in the people of the independent sector as they work to build community. The award supports this important principle by acknowledging an organization that incorporates the development of future leaders in its policies and daily operations. The award also provides an opportunity for Independent Sector to address directly the value and importance of investing in the people of the sector by celebrating an institution that embodies this principle in spirit and practice.

The award aims to recognize organizations that place an emphasis on internal leadership and staff, board, and volunteer development. Applicant organizations will be required to demonstrate how they prepares tomorrow’s leaders of the nonprofit sector.

The recipient of the Leadership IS Award is presented with an award statuette at the Independent Sector annual conference.

Anyone may nominate an organization to receive the award. To be eligible, an organization must be a nonprofit but need not be an Independent Sector member. Once an organization is nominated, the organization will receive a Leadership IS Award application.

Visit the Independent Sector Web site for complete program information and nomination guidelines.
