Leadership Academy on Combating Childhood Obesity ? week of Jan. 29, 2007
There is still time to apply for a Leadership Academy on city-school strategies to combat childhood obesity in Nashville, Tenn., to be held the week of Jan. 29, 2007. Municipal and school leaders can apply jointly for this two-day academy, which will focus on the implementation of federally mandated school wellness plans as a catalyst for community-wide efforts to address childhood obesity. Two-person teams composed of one elected or appointed municipal official and one superintendent or assistant superintendent will have a chance to learn and share effective strategies with their peers. Selected participants will be reimbursed for travel-related expenses (airfare, hotel, meals, parking, etc.). Participating teams will be given preference for a follow-up school wellness planning technical assistance project involving four to six cities. If you are interested, please contact Leon Andrews immediately at [email protected] or (202) 626-3039.
