Launch of new student run feminist magazine

Posted by on April 15, 2005

Hello!

My name is Melody Berger and I’m a senior majoring in Women’s Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia. I’m starting a feminist magazine for teens, and I was hoping that you could help me spread the word a bit. (we’re looking for feminist writing and artwork) (and, of course, contributors of the monetary variety are always welcome too!) (And, hoo boy is the first issue gonna be good: we’ve got loads of great, politically meaty articles and interviews with Gloria Steinem, Loretta Ross, BETTY, Dyann Logwood, Bitch, Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards, Lenelle Moise… among others.)

ALSO, (and this would be the pressing question)

You (yes, YOU!) are cordially invited to attend:

The first F-WORD salon!
(a feminist arts-and-crafts night/zine-release party/benefit-concert type thing)

To celebrate the May 7th launch of The F-WORD magazine!
(a brand spankin’ new e-publication that’s gonna defeat all the bad “isms.”)

http://www.thef-wordzine.com

When: May 7th, 8pm-12:30-ish
Where: The Rotunda: 4012 Walnut St; Philadelphia, PA 19104
Featuring performances by:

Kristen Gass, Jen/ed, Mahogany, Lenelle Moise, and Doria Roberts

Bring your art supplies and any craftsy projects you may be working on! There will be loads of people tabling for fiercely radical (in the good way) causes, knitting circles, local artists creating pretty things… etc. Mass creative craziness!

All donations will go towards the first print version of the F-WORD magazine… and the travelling expenses of our visiting performers. (We’re asking for a $10 donation at the door, but no one will be turned away.)

Get involved!
