The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has been a visionary not-for-profit organization in the Greater Philadelphia Region since its founding in 1827. PHS organizes the annual Philadelphia International Flower Show, the world’s largest and longest-running indoor flower show, which brings 250,000 visitors and creates a $61 million economic impact to the city. PHS’s Philadelphia Green helps transform lives through revolutionary programs like City Harvest, which has grown and donated 77,000 lbs of fresh produce in three years—helping to feed 1,000 families each week of the growing season. PHS will also lead the new Plant One Million, an ambitious program to plant one million trees in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

POSITION SUMMARY
Supports landscape design and management team by developing landscape designs, producing renderings and other visual presentations, and performing landscape management administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares base plans, site analyses, design concepts, design development, and construction documentation for landscape projects.
Researches materials and products, and assembles palettes of landscape materials and furnishings.
Develops plant palettes, including new combinations for seasonal displays. Selects and sources plants.
Prepares perspective drawings, photo simulations, illustrative plans and elevations, and animations for landscape projects.
Prepares cost estimates and specifications for landscape projects.
Reviews bid documents and coordinates contracts for landscape installations and maintenance. Assures contracts are fulfilled within schedule, budget, quality standards, and specifications through site observation and monitoring.
Coordinates project administration and documentation by producing clear, accurate and informative meeting agendas and minutes.
Provides technical assistance related to urban horticulture, landscape design, construction, and maintenance to advocate for responsible and successful techniques and approaches.
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with partners, consultants, contractors, and vendors to assure project goals are realized.
Works collaboratively with PHS’s public landscapes and management team, and other PHS departments.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture
Three to five years experience in a landscape architectural firm, or similar organization, with demonstrated experience in performing site analysis, concept design, design development, renderings and illustrations, and preparing bid and construction documents.
Landscape design, construction, and maintenance supervision skills.
Excellent knowledge of landscape architectural and horticultural practices, with a focus in urban horticulture preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to deadlines.
Ability to communicate verbally and graphically to diverse populations.
Ability to produce photo-realistic visuals for fundraising and marketing purposes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite, Google Sketch up, and Rhinoceros.
