Lab Assistant training program – apply by Nov 6

West Philadelphia Skills Initiative (WPSI) is recruiting across Philadelphia for training and job opportunities as a lab assistant with Penn Medicine. Earn $18/hour to start.

Who should apply?
Goal-oriented, motivated individuals with a desire to work at the leading edge of laboratory science. Successful candidates must thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment which operates 24 hours per day. A keen attention to detail and high-quality people skills are a must, as well.

This program is a blend of virtual courses and in-person sessions which will maintain high standards of safety compliance in the face of COVID-19. Participants must commit to either of the following schedules, depending on the cohort to which you may be accepted:

Cohort A

• Virtual Group Sessions, Two Weeks: 11/9-11/23/20, Mon-Fri, 9a-12p, plus:
  • Approximately 2 hours of daily, independent lessons
  • Week One: A 30-minute one-on-one virtual session
  • Week Two: Two separate 15-minute one-on-one virtual sessions
• In-person, Lab Basics Training, 11/30-12/11/20, Mon-Fri, 7a-3:30p
• Virtual Group Session, 12/15/20, 9a-12p

Cohort B

• Virtual Group Sessions, Two Weeks: 11/30-12/14/20, Mon-Fri, 9a-12p, plus:
  • Approximately 2 hours of daily, independent lessons
  • Week One: A 30-minute one-on-one virtual session
  • Week Two: Two separate 15-minute one-on-one virtual sessions
• In-person, Lab Basics Training, 12/15-12/30/20, Mon-Fri, 7a-3:30p
• Virtual Group Session, 1/5/21, 9a-12p
